Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Which California counties does Legal Document Server cover?
We are court-approved to eFile in 46 of California's 58 Superior Courts, covering every major metropolitan area and most regional courthouses. For the remaining 12 counties, we provide physical filing, process serving, and all other court services — contact our support team for details.
Which California courts require mandatory eFiling?
Mandatory eFiling rules vary by county and case type. Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Sacramento, Santa Clara, Alameda, and San Francisco require eFiling for most attorney-represented civil filings. Family law, probate, and small claims have separate rules. If you have questions about a specific court or case type, our support team is happy to help.
How fast can you file documents in California Superior Courts?
eFiling documents can be submitted up to 11:59 PM PT and will receive that day's filing date. For physical filing and other court services, turnaround depends on the service level selected at the time of order.
Is there a different fee for each county?
Court filing fees are set by each Superior Court and pass through at cost. Our service fee for eFiling is the same flat rate across all 46 counties — no premium for distance or rural jurisdictions.
Do you serve counties where eFiling is not yet available?
Yes — we provide physical filing, process serving, skip tracing, e-service, and all other litigation support services in every California county and nationwide. eFiling is the only service restricted to our 46 certified counties.
